The Boxes of Stanley Kubrick

Stanley Kubrick was a perfectionist. If you didn't know that already you might be dumb.
However, to what extent is this true? Come find out in this very interesting British documentary about his 1000+ box archive, his quest for the perfect cardboard box, his torrid affair with stationary, and the exacting safety protocols for his cats.

Thankfully, this is not an annoying documentary about his general 'eccentricities', but rather a study of the paper trail left by one, which actually make him more human than myth.

My Dinner With Andre (1981)

I've always known about this film, having first seen it as a child on the first cable station, "Z Channel" in the early 80s. Of course, back then, I immediately flipped to the next channel.

Only now, being almost the same age as the characters in this film, or at least not far from their general mind states, I felt like it hit me in the right spot.

I so loved seeing this for the 'first time' (even though I felt like I already had 'been there, done that' and had already seen it!)

I'm finally happy to see this film as it is. A great minimalist film of just two dudes talking about sleeping and waking.

Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant (2009)

I love this movie. This is likely because Cage's character does things I wish I could do when I'm in a bad mood in real life. Cage sometimes mails in his performances, but he really shines in this one. He's always been good at playing characters at 'the edge'.
